Just days after Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift reunited at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, Gomez treated fans to some bonus BFF content posting a pair of seaside Instagram selfies with Swift. In one of the photos, the long-time besties are seen lovingly puckering up while casually enjoying a meal al fresco. The post was captioned, “Thas my best frien -she a real bad,” referencing Saweetie’s hit song “Best Friend.” Within less than 24 hours, the photos garnered over 13 million likes and 77,000 comments.
Although it’s unclear where the photos were taken, it is speculated that they were throwbacks from Swift’s Fourth of July party earlier this summer, based on the dress Swift is wearing in the pictures. Additionally, Swift was seen leaving a restaurant in New York City with Blake Lively on the same night.
Gomez and Swift were together in Newark, New Jersey for the VMAs on September 12. After posing together for photographers, Swift blew kisses to Gomez during her acceptance speech for Best Afrobeats Moon Person trophy. Following the ceremony, the best friends attended a VMAs after-party at the NoMad in NYC.
Prior to posting the beachside selfies, Gomez shared a candid shot of them from the VMAs and playfully poked fun at herself. She wrote, “She looks stunning, I look constipated. Typical.”
Gomez and Swift have been supporting each other throughout the summer. Gomez attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows in Los Angeles with her sister, Gracie, and Swift expressed her love for Gomez’s new song, “Single Soon,” on social media. The two have a long history of sharing their music with each other before release and have been each other’s biggest supporters.
