Authorities have reported that teenagers in Southampton recently participated in the challenge, taking excessive amounts of painkillers to see who could remain hospitalized the longest. This alarming trend has also resulted in flash mob raids, such as the incident at JD Sports in London, where teenagers organized an attack inspired TikTok videos.
Donna Jones, Chairman of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC), has urged parents to intervene in order to prevent these behaviors. She expressed her worry about the risks involved and the strain it puts on emergency services.
These incidents have led to hospitalizations and significant disruptions in the affected areas. Jones emphasized that the events in Southampton and London were criminal acts that caused financial losses for businesses and necessitated police intervention.
