Where to Watch Strays: Release Dates and Platforms

Netflix News YouTube

Reggie, a Border Terrier voiced Will Ferrell, finds himself abandoned on the streets his neglectful owner in the hilarious movie Strays. He joins forces with other stray dogs to seek revenge. If you’re wondering where you can watch this film, here’s what you need to know.

As of now, Strays can only be watched in movie theaters starting on Friday, Aug. 18. You can find local showings on Fandango. If you prefer to watch it from the comfort of your own home, you’ll have to wait for it to become available on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube, and Apple, or to stream on Peacock.

Unfortunately, there is no specific digital release date for Strays yet. Universal Pictures’ previous film, Asteroid City, became available on digital platforms about three weeks after its theatrical release. So, if Strays follows a similar pattern, you might be able to rent or purchase it Sept. 8 at the earliest. However, it’s also possible that it could take the standard 45-day window for movies to arrive on digital, which would mean it might not be available until early October 2023.

For those curious about Strays’ availability on Peacock, the streaming platform has not announced a release date. Based on the release pattern of another Universal Pictures film, Cocaine Bear, it took about 45 days for the movie to join Peacock after its theatrical release. If Strays follows a similar trajectory, it should be available on Peacock early October 2023. However, there are instances where films have taken longer than the standard 45 days to arrive on the streaming platform, so it’s best to keep an eye out for updates.

It’s important to note that Strays will not be available on HBO Max, as it is not a Warner Bros. movie. HBO Max has implemented a 45-day window between theatrical releases and its streaming releases. Similarly, Strays will not be on Netflix in the near future, so for now, your options are either to catch it in theaters or wait for its availability on a digital platform or Peacock.
