Instagram has recently announced the expansion of its Reels Gifts feature to more countries, providing content creators with increased opportunities to monetize their content. Reels Gifts is a feature that allows followers and non-followers to show their appreciation for creators sending virtual gifts while watching their reels. Only creators themselves can view the gifts they receive.
To participate in the gifting process, viewers can purchase stars, which can then be used to send gifts on Instagram. Creators are rewarded with a share of revenue on a monthly basis, with each star equating to $0.01 USD. Earnings can be tracked through the Professional Dashboard, and creators become eligible for payout when their cumulative balance reaches $25.
However, it is important to set up a payout account to receive earnings. Failure to do so may result in limitations on monetizing with Instagram Gifts, including losing the ability to monetize after 5 months or if earnings exceed $500. After 6 months, any rights to receive payment are forfeited.
Instagram has made it easy for creators to enable or disable Reels Gifts. By accessing the Professional Dashboard and navigating to the “Gifts” section, creators can choose to allow or turn off gifts on their reels. This feature can also be disabled for specific reels during the creation process or managing the reel settings while viewing a post.
The expansion of Reels Gifts reflects the growing recognition of content creators and their impact on social media platforms. Monetization initiatives like this provide creators with a sustainable way to pursue their passions and reward their hard work.
